Why This Scholarship

The Spur Teacher Scholarship was created to support high school students who are ready to answer the call to teach. Whether you want to lead a kindergarten classroom, coach a high school team, or inspire students in STEM — we want to help you get there.
This $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one outstanding student to put toward their college education in a teaching or education-related field.
Must be a current 11th or 12th grade student (Class of 2026 or 2027)
Cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Plans to pursue a degree in education, teaching, or a related field
Must be a legal resident of the United States

The scholarship recipient will be announced by June 1, 2026. All applicants will be notified of the decision via email.
The scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient's college or university to be applied toward tuition and fees for the fall semester following the award.
Yes! You don't need to have committed to a college yet. As long as you plan to pursue a degree in education or a teaching-related field, you're welcome to apply. The intended college field on the application is optional.
We're looking for students who demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching and education. Your essay is the most important part of the application — we want to understand what drives you to become a teacher and the impact you hope to make.

The $5,000 scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient's accredited college or university and applied toward tuition and required fees for the fall semester following the award.
If funds remain after tuition and required fees are covered, the remaining balance may be provided to the recipient for education-related expenses, such as books, supplies, or housing.
Funds are intended for education-related expenses. Spur is not responsible for how funds are ultimately used once disbursed in accordance with these terms.
The selected recipient must provide proof of enrollment before funds are distributed. If the recipient does not enroll, Spur reserves the right to select an alternate recipient.
